Crafting with the Real BIG Boy: Heart Breaker Valentines

Ready for Round 2 of BOYish Valentines? Well today, it's okay to be a Heart Breaker.

Printed on to bright paper, these colorful Heartbreakers work for both boys and girls (with two different "saying" choices). Each valentine is stapled together to create a pouch full of secret candies. And the only way to find them, is by tearin' up my heart! (cue N Sync)
You just need a few simple supplies:
And in our house, when it comes to crafting, I get Dad involved. Remember the little tree he made? Yea, he's pretty good with the scissors. In fact, I asked him to help cut out Super Snowflakes and each of his looked 10 times better than mine.

So, get your big boy up to the table, give him scissors and a stapler and watch him do wonders.

If you're lucky, he'll even throw a juggling act in there (a very skilled talent with those tiny M&Ms).
You'll find the very SIMPLE Tutorial (which includes a Heart Print out) HERE:
And with your Heart Break Hotel in motion,
You're ready for the school party!
Happy Valentines Day little Heart Breaker!
---------------------------------------------------------------
Looking for a great way to transport all those valentines? Grab your hobo sack!
Fill it up with HeartBreaker Valentines, Hand then out, Fill it back up with new goods,
And sort through the loot.
You'll find the hobo sack Tutorial HERE:And the 90 Minute Shirt Tutorial HERE:

I love this! Such a simple idea, but so clever! You are just rocking my world, I'm loving this "boy" month, even though I don't have any boys! And I just wanted to say, thank you, and great job for posting so often with such great tutorials. I know how much time each post takes, and what hard work it is, so thanks, Dana!!

I love the play on words! I'm a sucker for a play on words - this morning I posted a Valentine's project that says, "You are a sweetea" - with a bag of tea inside :)

Hilarious! I love, love, love the valentine idea. I will have to remember that for next year. I love handmade cards, and having three boys, finding something "manly" enough for them is hard.

I LOVE it! What an awesome idea. I love that it involves M&M's. I also love that the recipient is going to like it so much more that a flat piece of paper that can't be eaten.

Hey there little lady...LOVE the month of the boy...it is ABOUT time we hear it for the boys!!!

So had a little crafty iderrr the other day...could be lovely for the boys...use it if you like and think it would be helpful for the month of Feb.

So enjoy following along here in blog land with you all!

Thanks!

What a fabulous idea! Inexpensive and easy. <3

What a sweet way to break a heart!!!!!! Can you sew around instead of stapling?

B.jane said...

Cutest EVER!

Brenlyn said...

I'm nervous about including staples with Valentine candy. I'd use a small hole punch to punch around the heart and then lace around it with yarn. Wrap a little piece of scotch tape around the yarn end to thread the holes easier. My kids enjoy lacing cards, so lacing Valentines would be fun too (unless you have to make 30 of them). You could always use glue!

I can't tell you how much I love Celebrate the Boy. But I think my favorite part of all is getting to see more of Owen. Thanks for thinking about the little dudes in our lives.

This post had perfect timing. My son came home with a note yesterday about the valentine's day party and I had gone online looking for an idea that we could make. My kger has so much fun with these- and it was great cutting practice as well. I won't lie, my hands were tired from all that stapler use when we were done.

Thanks for the fun idea and doing the "work" for us so we could just press print.

Susan said...

Another great idea! I love the Celebrate The Boy posts & am glad to hear it won't be a one time event.
We already made our valentines, but I could see the idea of tear open packages being a great 'thank you' favor for a kid's birthday party.

Liz said...

THANK YOU for doing this.
I have 2 boys and no girls and I am ALWAYS searching the internet for cute boy things!!
This is amazing!

Dana, you just saved me! I have to take Valentine "cards" to my daughter's preschool class tomorrow and I didn't want to go to the store and just pick out the same old, boring thing. I was surfing through my favorite blogs tonight and came across your Valentine idea and I LOVE it! Printed it out. My husband is picking up m&m's on his way home and my daughter will be ready for tomorrow. Thanks so much for the great and clever idea!

what a sweet idea.

Tried your heart hair clips the other day with a friend. Maybe I should just stick to sewing buttons on things when they fall off...
