Hello world! I'm alive, but a bit out of sorts. Life has been funny lately and not much sewing has gone on. So I'll just share the randomness.1. Our computer died on us. But we took it to the Apple shop, they said they'd fix it for free, and we picked it up today! After 5 days of silence/blog-free/email-withdrawls, I'm back to my comfy surroundings, here (yay!):
2. I thought my sewing machine was broken. But turns out that yep, I'm just an idiot. I couldn't get the stitch length knob to turn. I was certain it was stuck (when in a hurry last week, I'd wound it real fast). I took my machine apart, couldn't find a way to get to that knob, had my husband look at it, he was stumped, I put it back together, and was ready to take it to the shop. Then I realized....it was in the Button Holer mode. Um. Duh. I switched that off and everything works fine. Wow, our family is setting a trend for FREE machine repair these days.Of course, (I shamelessly admit) that a week without a computer OR a sewing machine has meant more quality time spent with these munchkins:

How easily distracted we become with projects, blogs, and correspondences. I'm glad I saw more of my kids this week. And in the mail came some lovely treasures.....
1. Stacie of the blog Rockin' Bobbin sent me a surprise package just to say thanks for being a blogger and sharing ideas. That is honestly, so very sweet. Thank you Stacie! Inside a small pink box was a hairbow, a cute needle, and this perfect tie for my little guy:
She even tried to match the fabric to the Seaside Stripes dress I made for Goose. Stacie, you're too cute. Thank you again!2. In exchange for the Emory Skirt and bag below, Tara (Emory's mom) made me this personalized necklace:
It's simple, it's sweet, it's the perfect length. You can find similar necklaces on Etsy like this and this and this. Thanks Tara! I love swapping talents as payment.3. My copy of the Sugar City Journal Quarterly showed up. Those women are amazingly talented. I've skimmed through it but can't wait to relax on the couch and read away:

4. This didn't come in the mail but sure made me smile. One of my new favorite blogs, A Little Bit Of Sugar posted this about joon bug.
Lucy, the creator behind such sweetness, has impeccable style and taste. She shares lovely photos, cool crafts, and well, I just can't get over that blog title. Stopping by her site is truly like a bit of sugar. If you want a taste, check out this Scrabble desk she's making:

And lastly, since I don't often share much about my family (I have another blog for those day-to-day happenings)...just a little pat on the back here to my wonderful husband. A couple years ago he decided to get his Masters of Economics, while still working his full-time day-job. Life was busy and crazy for a while but on Saturday.....he graduated! Hooray for Master Casey!
We're glad he works hard for our family.
And, I'm done. While typing here....I have fabric dying in the sink....and I have a whole line-up of projects to be sewn this week (since my machine is now fixed).
Hi world. It's nice to be back.

yeah! you're back! super cute necklace...and YAY (again) for the fixed computer & master casey. boo for cold graduations :(
can't wait to see your new projects :)
Glad the computer and sewing machine are both up and running again.
I can't wait for my copy of the Sugar City journal, it looks so fab.
Thanks so much for the link love - the scrabble desk was one of my slightly crazier ideas.
Congratulations to the Master!! Glad you are back with all machines fixed.
Last week was the first week of summer for the kids and since my husband was at scout camp, I didn't do any crafts or sewing (until Wed. night when he came home and I made the pj bottoms) and it was such a nice break. I am going to have electronic free days. I am glad your sewing machine and computer are back on and CONGRATS to your family on your husband's accomplishment.
I don't even know where to begin with my comments.
Will a simple, all-encompassing "YAY!" suffice?
YAY
Dana, you have such a beautiful family! And what a lot of lovely stuff you've been receiving this week - isn't it great? I just cannot help thinking that you must have more time than I do - seems like you have time to get so much done in just a short time. I love coming here - tons of inspiration! :)
P.S. Glad you got your machine "fixed"... :D
so much going on in your life lately. so happy the sewing machine is working after all.
i feel like we have a lot in common. my husband got his undergraduate in economics and has been toying with the idea of getting his masters in it or an mba.
can't wait to see what you will be coming up with next.
I have nightmares about my Mac breaking down ;) Love your blog! Congrats to your husband!
Yippee! Missed ya sweetie.
Welcome back! And YAY to Casey and to you also! That's a huge accomplishment. Good job!!!
Congratulations to your husband! Exciting news. Glad you enjoyed your time away from online life. :)
Oooooh--I love the length of your necklace too--it is so cute!
And congrats--I just LOOOOOVE the feel of graduating!! You (I'm assuming it was you) got a great shot of him.
I also love the pictures of the kiddos. Adorable as always.
That sewing machine story Rocks. :)
way to go case!
You cracked me up with the sewing machine "repair" story. My students often get tripped-up by a previous user leaving one of the machines in buttonhole mode. It always gives me a bit of a chuckle.
That necklace is so sweet.
And congratulations on your husband's graduation! I imagine that on such an occasion, the whole family deserves to be congratulated, because you all helped him get through it, I'm sure.
I totally love this post--just all the random happenings I guess.
Yes--YAY you're back!! And I love that you call him Master Casey...soooo funny! Congrats to Master Casey!
Yay! You are back! How did you survive without you computer AND sewing machine? That would be hard for me. Last year I had my machine serviced, I felt so empty that I cut out ten outfits. I felt deprived and had to fill in the whole with something. When the machine came back, I had the best time sewing away my daughter's clothes.
Congrats to your husband! What an accomplishment. Come by my blog, I'm having a giveaway. :)

So glad you're back. Love the tie!
Congrats on your husband finishing his masters! Must be so wonderful to have him back! And you too. :)
A Masters in Econ? Wow! I barely made it through a Bachelors in the same subject. Kudos to your husband. I think I slept through most of my classes -- probably why I had to opt for the MBA (LOL!!) Thanks for stopping by my blog. Your blog is fantastic.
wow, that must be a big relief that he has graduated. My congrats to him. My husband is toying with the idea of going back for his masters -- ugh, he'd have to commute 2x a week and it would be 2 nights a week we pretty much don't see him.
Hey Dana,
This is Hannah from While They Sleep. Thanks so much for all of your kind comments. Little do you know that I have been secretly worshiping you for a while now! :D
I'm glad you are back and congrats to your man! How exciting! My hubby is smack dab in the middle of his masters program (with the full-time job)...can't wait for the day when I can say he's a Master!
glad you are back!
and that your necklace turned out so cute
and that your husband is graduated...woohoo! love that family picture!
Congrats to Casey! Your kids are so cute! They're looking more and more like each other!
Congratulations to your husband and you! Woohoo!! It's also so much work for the stay-at-home-mom whose husband is going through school and working. Way to go!
Glad you're back and your computer and sewing machine are fixed! :-)
I haven't been much in the sewing mood lately. maybe it's because it's summer and my big kids are always around. I'm having fun with my kids though. I guess I want them to remember their summers as fun hanging out with mom, rather than playing while mom sews...
You're such an inspiration! Glad you're back.
Ah Dana. We love you. I'm speaking for myself all all of your other admirers, of which I'm sure there are many (hey, you already have 25 comments on this post alone! I can't even get my mom to comment on my blog).
Such an attractive family you are!
P.S. I love that necklace.
